IRB 1200 Next Generation

ABB evolves IRB 1200 family, with greater speed, precision and choice

ABB’s high-performance IRB 1200 next generation robots enhance productivity and efficiency in high-end process applications. Powered by ABB’s OmniCore controller, the new robots achieve class-leading motion control, with path repeatability to just 0.03mm and pose repeatability down to 0.011mm, even for multiple robots at high speeds of up to 1600mm/s. The new generation IRB 1200 family comes in four variants — 5, 7, 8, and 9 kg — the latter offering best-in-class payload, making it ideal for handling larger or heavier parts.

ABB Robotics’ IRB 1200 high performance small robot family is evolving, into a new generation that is faster and even more precise, to improve productivity and efficiency in a wide range of applications.

A 5% faster cycle time1 ensures that the new IRB 1200 family delivers this precision with even greater productivity, making it ideal for high throughput, complex applications such as surface finishing, assembly, and dispensing.

Enhanced efficiency

Through its leaner design, the new IRB 1200 enables more compact and efficient installation, boosting throughput and efficiency without increasing production footprint. At the same time, it is 20% lighter than the previous generation, reducing pedestal mounting and energy consumption.

Versatility

The IRB 1200 can be controlled by four OmniCore controllers, including the E10, C30, C90XT, and V250XT, to support essential and more extensive customer requirements. For example, additional axes or drive units from OmniCore controllers can synchronize external equipment (e.g., positioners or turntables) with the robot's movements, significantly improving the overall operating efficiency and increasing productivity.

The option of up to 24 connection pins for customer power and signal (CP/CS) options allows for the integration of more grippers and sensors via internal cabling, reducing cable wear and tear, and minimizing cable interference.

The use of a larger diameter air hose (Φ6 x 4) provides additional power for vacuum suction, allowing simultaneous handling of multiple objects, compared to other robots.
