Who we are - ABB in brief
ABB is a technology leader that works closely with utility, industry, transportation and infrastructure customers to write the future of industrial digitalisation and realise value.
Continuing a history of innovation spanning more than 130 years, ABB today is writing the future of industrial digitalisation with two clear value propositions: bringing electricity from any power plant to any plug and automating industries from natural resources to finished products. As title partner of Formula E, the fully electric international FIA motorsport class, ABB is pushing the boundaries of e-mobility to contribute to a sustainable future.
The ABB Group employs more than 147,000 people in over 100 countries. Each of our customers benefits from sharing ABB’s research, supply, manufacturing, distribution, information technology and benchmarking capabilities.
In Australia, the history of ABB goes back to the late nineteenth century. Today, ABB has operations in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Darwin and Melbourne. With 1,400 employees located at our 14 sites, customers are served through an extensive country-wide presence.
In ABB, we have a proud history of many ‘firsts’. In 2012, ABB Australia patented another world first – technology to recycle SF6 gas to technical grade purity. ABB’s technology can effectively close the loop on this greenhouse gas, the significance of which was recognised in ABB being awarded a prestigious Banksia Environmental award.
The health and safety of our people and our customers is a fundamental part of our commitment to sustainability. We care deeply about how our operations and products affect our employees, customers, contractors and our neighbours.
Ultimately, we help our customers meet their challenges with minimum environmental impact and with safety and quality as our highest priority.
