"Through the extended motor management agreement, our presence continues to be strong and we will avoid costly downtime," says Kjell Erixon, purchaser at Mondi Dynäs.
The first agreement between ABB and Mondi Dynäs AB in Väja was signed in 2001 and this is the third extension of the agreement and guarantees a complete solution for preventive maintenance for Mondi. Timely maintenance aims to secure that availability of electrical operations improving operational efficiency. Through planned and structured maintenance, uninterrupted operations throughout the powertrain can be achieved, and downtime will only take place when it suits the business best.
The scope of the extended agreement includes preventive maintenance, service, and motor replacements for a total of 3,5 years. Customer profits from reduction of production downtime and thus reduced production losses.
Preventive maintenance keeps production running
With the extension, the agreement has been expanded to apply not only to motor drives but also to other powered items such as pumps, fans etc. However, the focus ison the items that are most critical to production, the so called A-position operations. ABB's auditors visit the factory four times a year to perform measurements, analyses and reporting. ABB is responsible for monitoring the condition of objects (a total of approximately 490 measurement points) and taking preventive action if necessary.
"We have seen significant improvements in production since we began working with ABB", says Kjell Erixon. "It is a great advantage to have a third party looking over our production ensuring that we have complete control of our operations."
"The collaboration has resulted in reduced downtime and the positive effects have been very good over the years. This is a trend we want to continue and build on", he concludes.
