Read the device settings and save as Offline Dataset - VIDEOS

Upload – Read the device settings and save them as Offline Dataset.

  1. Connect your physical device and wait until the device is available as Device Tile object.
  2. From the Device Tile please open the Context Menu and select UPLOAD DOWNLOAD.
  3. From the sub menu please select READ FROM DEVICE.
  4. Field Information Manager will open up a dialog giving information about the estimated remaining time until the activity is ready. Please note that this time information is not very precise but it gives a good indication if the activity will either run quickly or slowly depending on the amount of device parameters.
  5. Finally a message box will confirm the succeeded activity.

Write the Offline Dataset to the device - VIDEO

Download – Write the Offline Dataset settings to the physical device.

  1. Connect your physical device and wait until the device is available as Device Tile object.
  2. Via Device Tile please open the Context Menu and select UPLOAD DOWNLOAD.
  3. In the sub menu please select WRITE TO DEVICE.
  4. Field Information Manager will open up a dialog giving information about the estimated remaining time until the activity is ready. Please note that this time information is not very precise but gives a good indication if the activity will either run quickly or slowly depending on the amount of device parameters.
  5. Finally a message box will confirm the succeeded activity.

Change the Offline Dataset

Use this option if you want to change the offline configuration parameter of the device.

How to change the Offline Dataset:

  1. Access the Device Tile object and open the Context Menu.
  2. Select OFFLINE and DEVICE SETTINGS.
  3. Browse through the views and find the parameter you intend to change to another value.
  4. Confirm your parameter change with selecting the SAVE button.

Assign an Offline Dataset to a physical device

Use this option if you have created a new Offline Dataset and you want to use this dataset for a physical device. As soon as the Offline Dataset has been connected to the physical device, then the next time the physical device is connected, the dataset will get assigned automatically.

How to use the Offline Dataset for the assignment:
  1. Access the Offline Dataset and open the Context Menu.
  2. Select OFFLINE and ASSIGN FIELD DEVICE. If this option can not be enabled, the Field Information Manager cannot find any matching devices which are connected and physically available.
  3. Select the device Device Tile object from the list.
  4. Confirm the assignment with the upcoming message box.

How to use the field device for the assignment:

  1. Access the device Device Tile and open the Context Menu.
  2. Select OFFLINE and ASSIGN DATASET. If this option cannot be enabled, the Field Information Manager cannot find any matching Offline Datasets.
  3. Select the Offline Dataset Device Tile object in the list.
  4. Confirm the assignment with the upcoming message box.

Save an Offline Dataset as a template

Use this option if you have created a dataset and you want to use this configuration for several other datasets. In that case you can create a template. A template can be used for other datasets or exported as a file and therefore used on other Field Information Manager nodes as well.

How to create a template:
  1. Please access a Device Tile independent of this Device Tile being connected to a physical device or representing an Offline Dataset without a device.
  2. Open the Context Menu from the Device Tile.
  3. Select OFFLINE – TEMPLATES – NEW TEMPLATE.
  4. Specify a template name and a template description and select the ADD button.

Use a template to preconfigure an Offline Dataset - VIDEO

Use this option if you want to save a template dataset to an Offline Dataset that is already available.
  1. Please access the Offline Dataset Device Tile object and open the Context Menu.
  2. Select OFFLINE – TEMPLATES – APPLY TEMPLATE. If this option is not enabled, the Field Information Manager cannot find a matching template to use.
  3. Select the template object from the list and confirm.
  4. The template dataset has been transferred to the Offline Dataset. All parameters of the Offline Dataset have been exchanged with the template parameter values except the TAG parameter.

Create an offline Device Dataset based on a Device Package

Use this option if you want to create a new Offline Dataset based on a Device Package.
  1. Please open the Device Catalog and use the Search or browse with the mouse to access the Device Package you want to use for the new Offline Dataset.
  2. Please access the Device Package Device Tile object and open the Context Menu.
  3. Select OFFLINE – NEW DATASET
  4. Specify the Offline Dataset name and accept.
  5. The new Offline Dataset has been created and is now available in the Configuration Tool.

Create an offline Device Dataset based on a template

Use this option if you want to create a new Offline Dataset which is already configured with a template configuration.
  1. Please access the template Device Tile object and open the Context Menu.
  2. Select OFFLINE – NEW DATASET
  3. Specify the Offline Dataset name and accept.

Delete an Offline Dataset or a Template

Use this option if you want to delete an Offline Dataset or a Template.
  1. Access the Offline Dataset or Template object and open the Context Menu.
  2. Select OFFLINE and REMOVE.
  3. Confirm deleting the dataset via the upcoming message box.

Watch all available templates

Please open the Configuration Tool to get an overview about all available template Device Tiles. The template Device Tile objects contain a “T” icon in front. You can also search for the template Device Tiles via the Search field which is available on top of the Configurations Tool.

Import export Offline Datasets or Templates - VIDEOS

Use this option if you want to import or export an Offline Dataset or Template. The export file will contain the dataset and the used Device Package as well. This ensures that the import on a different computer node will succeed even if the Device Package is not available on that node.

Importing a dataset from a file:

For importing a dataset from a file, please drag & drop the *.fim file into the Field Information Manager main frame, which will start the import automatically.

Export a dataset into a file:
  1. Access the dataset and open the Context Menu.
  2. Select OFFLINE and EXPORT.
  3. Specify the file location and the file name and confirm.
