System 800xA 6.0.3’s System Installer includes the ability to update the system software while in operation. The online update procedure is simple, robust and doesn’t require an expert to execute and requires no manual post configuration steps. It has never been easier to keep your control system updated.
System 800xA 6.0.3 supports Windows 10 in addition to Windows 8.1. It is not necessary to update the Windows operating system when updating to 6.0.3 as the two operating systems can co-exist in the same system. For example, when a PC fails and needs to be replaced, a new Windows 10 compatible machine can be added while the rest of the system remains at Windows 8.1.
The licensing scheme for System 800xA hardware has been significantly simplified and optimized to avoid unnecessary overhead costs on small hardware additions to existing projects.
Another new offering released in conjunction with the 6.0.3 release is the concept of 800xA Workstations. This offering is a direct attempt to reduce the setup cost for workstations by having a selected set of quality workstations pre installed with a tailor made Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSB operating systems.
