The perfect combination of alarm technology and KNX intelligent building control
Zurich, Switzerland, September 16, 2015 - ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, is introducing ABB safe&smart, the world’s first security alarm system that is compatible with both the global KNX standard for home and building control and the international standard for alarm systems (IEC 62642).
The core of the ABB safe&smart concept, the new KNX Security Panel, comes with an integrated KNX interface offering seamless integration of security applications into smart homes and intelligent buildings – comfort, efficiency and security for buildings and their occupants.
“There’s a huge demand for security and safety in residential and small commercial buildings and with ABB’s new system, we are able to offer an easy to install, professional security system that can meet a wide range of security requirements”, says Dennis Haberer, ABB’s Product Manager for Intelligent Building Solutions.
“ABB safe&smart is suitable for applications globally and fully capable of being integrated into KNX systems, it offers new business opportunities for more than 40,000 KNX partners in 124 countries.”
The new safe&smart system is the result of more than 30 years of ABB’s experience in the fields of intelligent building control and security technology. As one of the key innovations, it provides an integrated web server which significantly simplifies the commissioning and installation for KNX and professional alarm system integrators, as only a standard web browser is required. End users can intuitively operate the system either with user-friendly new keypads or via a huge range of IP enabled devices such as smartphones, tablets and PCs.
The ABB safe&smart portfolio offers a complete range of professional security sensors and accessories to monitor all the typical risks connected with a building, such as, intrusion, smoke, gas- and water leakage, emergency call.
