ABB’s contribution

To give engineering students a hands-on approach to the subject, a laboratory has been set up at Ruppin Technological College in which students will learn how to integrate automation concepts into machinery and processes across different industries.

ABB has donated ten systems for the lab, including the AC500 V3 programmable logic controller, CP600-Pro control panels, ACS580 variable frequency drives, PSTX softstarters, motors and low-voltage equipment.

The students will use the lab on a regular basis as part of the official syllabus and will, for instance, train how to use the operating system, properly set up sensors and actuators, and apply programming languages. For programming, they will use the software solutions ABB Automation Builder, Panel Builder and Drive composer.

Gil Artzi, Head of the Mechatronics Department at Ruppin Technological College
“Thanks to ABB’s donation, our students will not only have theoretical knowledge about PLCs but also highly valuable practical training. This will undoubtedly be a unique selling point for our students on the labor market so that they can hit the ground running right after graduation.”
