ABB High-Performance Color Measurement improves accuracy during paper and board production by using a continuous LED light source and high-speed spectrometer for faster and more reliable color, brightness, opacity and whiteness measurement. 

The accuracy of the measurements enables papermakers to automatically and precisely control color to a target shade. The sensor works in conjunction with ABB’s Multivariable Color Control to minimize off-spec product, and reduce shade change and start-up times.

This sensor incorporates the newest generation of ABB color measurement technology and is designed for ABB Network Platforms to scan and measure color properties continuously over moving paper web. 

  

The High-Performance Color Measurement sensor's new Color Profiles feature enables the optimization of white top, size press and coating operations.

Its functionality is to provide easier identification of variations in color brightness, florescence, opacity and whiteness. This permits operators to take corrective action to resolve issues with size press operation, unevenly applied coatings or - for white top liner producers - coverage consistency
