In accordance with the methods set out in the applicable UNI technical standards and with the decisions adopted by the European Commission, Italian Legislative Decree No 116 of 3 September 2020 foresees that,
from 1 January 2023, all packaging
must be appropriately labelled in order to facilitate the collection, re-use, recovery and recycling of packaging – and to provide consumers with accurate information on the final destinations of packaging.
To identify and classify packaging, producers are also required to specify the nature of the packaging materials used, on the basis of Commission Decision 97/129/EC.
This has an impact on products made in Italy, as well as on all products produced and packaged in other countries for the Italian market.
