Emergi-Lite also has battery recycling registration meet the requirements of the Battery Directive (Battery Producer registration number BPRN00373).
As a producer of industrial batteries under Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations 2009 we ABB Emergi-lite produce Ni-Cad- used in our LED Luminaires, and VRLA – Valve regulated Lead Acid – used in Central BATTERY SYSTEM batteries. We obliged to take back free of charge, waste industrial batteries supplied to an end user treatment and recycling. We are required to do this in any calendar year we place new industrial batteries on the market. If any of our customers or in certain cases other end users, require us to take back industrial batteries, they should contact us at ABB Ltd Emergi-Lite, Tower Court, Courtaulds Way, Foleshill Enterprise Park, Coventry CV6 5NX, +44 (0) 333 999 9900 or email lv.enquiries@gb.abb.com. We will agree the necessary arrangements for the return, proper treatment and recycling of the waste industrial batteries.
This applies to emergency lighting luminaires supplied in UK, and those other territories where ABB Ltd Emergi-Lite has responsibility as a producer.
The company meets the producer responsibility via membership of the Lumicon Producer Compliance Scheme (registration no. WEEE/DH0073UQ). Under this scheme, de -polluted luminaires (ie those with the lamps, batteries and liquid filled capacitors removed), which are being replaced by our fittings, will be recycled in an environmentally sound manner.
Producers are required to finance the environmentally sound disposal of non-household luminaires and the gas discharge lamps within them. Therefore there will be a recycling charge, which may vary from time to time
