We are happy to announce the release of new functionality for the all-in-one protection and control relay REX640, designed to support the digitalization of substations. REX640 makes protecting all your assets in advanced power generation and distribution applications easy, offering complete application coverage with one device for optimal flexibility and cost-effectiveness. The fully modular design, together with continuous access to software and hardware developments, allows flexible customization, modification and adaptation to meet your unique protection requirements – today and for years to come.
REX640 now takes the next step to ensure an improved user experience and cost-effectiveness by introducing an additional user interface. With the addition of the SHMI, REX640 can now offer three HMI options: a Web HMI (WHMI), a local HMI (LHMI) and now also a switchgear HMI (SHMI). The new cost-efficient SHMI brings an entirely new dimension to the LHMI by making it possible for one physical interface to cover up to 20 REX640 relays for optimal switchgear visibility, without having to forgo the many great aspects of the LHMI. The full LHMI functionality is still available on switchgear panel or bay level – such as alarms, events and disturbance records – by selecting one panel or bay at a time.
The SHMI provides an optimal and cost-efficient option especially when the size of the switchgear lineup is between 4 and 20 panels or bays, or when the LHMI is only used occasionally but all its great aspects are appreciated. The SHMI is also an excellent choice when there is a limited amount of space, such as in a small-sized secondary switchgear located in a shopping center or industry, consisting of a few panels only. Also in case a certain distance between the relay and the LHMI is preferred, the SHMI represents the perfect solution.
What's new?
- Switchgear HMI (SHMI)
- One common SHMI instead of relay-specific local HMIs (LHMI)
- One physical interface for up to 20 REX640 relays
- Possibility to employ several SHMIs in the substation, each serving their own set of relays
- Ability to view the status of the complete lineup for optimal switchgear visibility
- Full LHMI functionality available on bay/panel level by selecting one relay at a time
- Relay costs reduced by up to 15% with SHMI instead of LHMI
- Automatic storing of configuration backups for the relays connected to the SHMI
- Always connected to the station communication network, allowing installation at a location of choice within the substation
