The e-mobility evolution in Indonesia
As one of the largest and fastest-growing economies in Southeast Asia, Indonesia has also been making efforts to promote e-mobility. In 2020, the Indonesian government announced its ambition to become the largest EV producer in Southeast Asia by 2025. The government has set a target to have at least 2.1 million electric motorcycles and 20,000 electric cars on the road by 2025. In addition, the government has offered tax incentives and subsidies for EV manufacturers and buyers to accelerate the adoption of e-mobility.
ABB E-mobility has successfully installed multiple DC fast chargers in Indonesia, including several for BPPT in Serpong, West Java and for the PLN Distribution Unit of Jakarta at its head office in Gambir, Jakarta. ABB also showcases a charging unit at in Indonesian headquarters, located in the WTC office complex at the heart of Jakarta’s business district. In addition to the DC fast chargers, ABB E-mobility has installed home charging AC wall boxes for dozens of residences, shopping malls, and car manufacturers. These efforts have provided strategic support to the government’s effort to adopt smart, reliable, and emission-free mobility solutions.
