ABB introduces integrated ATS in China with a switching time of less than 50ms and 80% less installation time

ABB introduces TruONE to China, at ABB Customer World 2018. TruONE is an automatic transfer switch (ATS), which integrates all necessary sensors, controllers, switches and operation interfaces into one device to maximize protection, reliability, and reduce installation time by 80 percent.

When power is lost to critical equipment in hospitals, data centers or telecommunication facilities, for example, the new TruONE ATS switches automatically to a backup power source. The contact transfer is achieved in less 50 ms, which is short enough to keep loads, like lighting and motors, operational during the switch. In addition, the installation of a traditional ATS was very difficult, in that various electrical components had to be connected and assembled within a single panel or cabinet. The large number of connections and components involved made installation complicated and reduced functional flexibility and reliability.

"ABB TruONE ATS is a major innovation in engineering design and a key breakthrough in emergency power systems. It is factory assembled and fully tested, which means installation is made easy," said David Lin, Product Marketing Director, ABB China Electrification Products Division. "ABB TruONE is fully compatible with ABB Ability™ Electrical Distribution Control System (EDCS) to enable remote plant management for electrical system performance optimization and greater energy efficiency."

TruONE ATS is the first to integrate everything that critical power applications need into one seamless unit. It enables panel builders and OEMs to create high-end ATS solutions economically that can be operated manually if necessary, even under load, using an elevated handle mounted to the ATS frame, which avoids opening the panel door. This feature provides significant safety improvements. In addition dangerous line voltage no longer need be connected to the door as the detachable human-machine interface (HMI) is completely isolated from the lines providing further safety benefits to the equipment operators.
