Leading electric motor solutions provider EMSS becomes newest ABB Authorised Value Provider

  • Australian business EMSS advances their ABB channel distribution partnership to become an ABB Motors Australia Authorised Value Provider (AVP)
  • EMSS has been supplying and servicing ABB motors for over 20 years
  • EMSS says becoming an AVP further strengthens their commitment to providing quality products and support that meets the highest standards in the industries they saturate such as food and beverage, paper and plastics, utilities, mining, and steel production

Melbourne-based EMSS is an Australian owned and operated electric motor sales and service company which has been in operation since 1982. They are a market leader in the supply, repair and modifications of AC/DC motors, servo robotic motors, and electro mechanical rotating equipment. In the core industries they operate, including food and beverage, paper and plastics, utilities, mining, and steel production, they’re able to offer engineering services to keep their clients’ unplanned downtime to a minimum in order to ensure reliable production thanks to their team of highly skilled professionals and modern, fully-equipped workshop.

EMSS has been supplying and servicing ABB motors to clients for over 20 years. Their work has involved the customisation of motors for unique application-specific requirements. Taking the next step in their partnership with ABB, EMSS has become ABB Australia’s newest Authorised Value Provider (AVP).

EMSS has experienced success over the years as a trusted technical distributor with the engineering capabilities to support the often-distinctive application requirements of their customers.

They were one of the few ABB partners who helped to launch the first ABB mining motor – principally designed for cement and mining industries and able to withstand the harsh conditions of dust and mineral particles, vibration, moisture, heat and temperature fluctuations. EMSS were especially chosen to be part of this launch thanks to their impressive footprint in heavy industry. Their expertise allowed them to easily deliver projects with this motor which excited customers particularly thanks to its top-positioned terminal box which allows for easy cable entry from either side, something that was previously missing in the market.

"Positioning ourselves alongside ABB’s deep-rooted brand recognition, and a company that shares EMSS’s core values to deliver more energy efficient and advanced technologies"

For John Gill, Managing Director at EMSS, being recognised as an ABB motors AVP and renowned technical distributor, “further strengthens our commitment to providing quality solutions and services support that meet the highest standards in the industry.

Positioning ourselves alongside ABB’s deep-rooted brand recognition, and a company that shares EMSS’s core values to deliver more energy efficient and advanced technologies to businesses, is a step towards fostering the already long-standing partnership between us and ABB.”

Looking to the future, John’s says EMSS is eager to start advocating for greater uptake by industries of ABB’s ultra-premium efficiency IE5 synchronous reluctance (SynRM) motor. He says it’s important for manufacturing and industrial sectors to take ownership of their own reduction in power consumption and C02 emissions.

“We’ll continue to supply and service ABB’s IEC Low Voltage motors and maintain our local stock availability, but additionally we’re keen to help our customers upgrade their infrastructure with technology like the SynRM motor.

It’s also about knowledge-sharing. Not everyone knows that upgrading form an IE3 to an IE5 motor cuts energy losses by 40%, typically reducing energy bills by up to 25%.  We want to help Australian industries to achieve that for a more sustainable future.”

Rory Paltridge, Division Manager for Motors at ABB Australia says, “EMSS has been a valued partner for many years and I’m pleased to see them take this next step by becoming our newest Authorised Value Provider. It is a recognition of their technical skills, knowledge of  the industry, and investment in continually developing their team.

I’m excited to continually grow this partnership by supporting EMSS to deliver high quality, industry-leading technological solutions including ABB’s ultra-premium efficiency IE5 synchronous reluctance (SynRM) motor, which is unmatched when it comes to increasing energy efficiency in operations.”
