Isral, President Director ad interim (a.i), PT Haleyora Power, revealed that PLN supports the government's target to become the largest electric vehicle producer in Southeast Asia by 2025. To meet this objective, Haleyora Power will continually collaborate with various stakeholders to support the growth of the electric vehicle ecosystem.

The government also aims to have 2.1 million electric motorcycles and 20,000 electric cars on the road by 2025. The growth of Electric Vehicles in Indonesia must be accompanied by the supporting infrastructure such as charging services. Thus, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Haleyora Power and ABB is a crucial foundation towards achieving this goal.

"The signing of this MoU signifies a crucial step in fostering stronger collaboration between Haleyora Power and ABB Indonesia to further accelerate the growth of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Indonesia. This also further cements our commitment to support the government’s net-zero emission (ZRE) program," said Isral.

As a subsidiary of PT PLN (Persero), Haleyora Power is assigned to manage the electricity sales (retail) business, which is expected to become more competitive in the future through the development of electricity supply with special services and tariffs to reduce subsidies. Halyora Power is engaged in the operation and maintenance of the electricity transmission and distribution network across the country. Established on October 18, 2011, PT Haleyora Power operates in Sumatra, Java, and Bali regions. Haleyora Power is actively advocating the growth of EVs and their ecosystem.

The e-mobility evolution in Indonesia

As one of the largest and fastest-growing economies in Southeast Asia, Indonesia has also been making efforts to promote E-mobility. In 2020, the Indonesian government announced its ambition to become the largest EV producer in Southeast Asia by 2025. The government has also set a target to have at least 2.1 million electric motorcycles and 20,000 electric cars on the road by 2025. In addition, the government has offered tax incentives and subsidies for EV manufacturers and buyers to accelerate the adoption of E-mobility.

To further support the growth of E-mobility in Indonesia, ABB E-mobility has successfully installed multiple DC fast chargers in the country, including several for BPPT in Serpong, West Java and for the PLN Distribution Unit of Jakarta at its head office in Gambir, Jakarta. ABB also showcases a charging unit in its Indonesian headquarters, located in the WTC office complex at the heart of Jakarta’s business district. In addition to the DC fast chargers, ABB E-mobility has installed home charging AC wall boxes for dozens of residences, shopping malls, and car manufacturers. These efforts have provided strategic support to the government’s effort to adopt smart, reliable, and emission-free mobility solutions.
