ABB has been named Propulsion System Manufacturer of the Year 2014 by The Electric & Hybrid Marine Awards by a judging panel consisting of leading maritime journalists, academics and industry experts around the world. The award was presented at the Electric & Hybrid Marine World Expo 2014 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
"ABB is a well-recognized international leader in green ship technology with many benchmark developments and strong influence to the industry. The recognitions as one of the world’s most ethical companies by Ethisphere Institute, and the most admired company in its sector by Forbes magazines reflected the company’s success," says jury member Zuomin Dong, professor and chair, University of Victoria’s Department of Mechanical Engineering.
“We are delighted that the international jury recognizes the unmatched quality, reliability and the environmental advantages of our propulsion systems,” says Heikki Soljama, Head of ABB’s Business Unit Marine and Cranes.
Other award categories at The Electric & Hybrid Marine Awards were Supplier of the Year, Innovation of the Year, Chief Engineer of the Year and Electric & Hybrid Propulsion of the Year. The jury consists of over 20 marine journalists, academics and experts around the world. This is the first year the awards were given.
