In Finland, ABB has business operations in 15 divisions, global responsibilities, significant production for exports, and over 5,000 employees, providing a wide range of choices for summer jobs too. We are looking for students for summer positions in various roles, including engineering, IT, customer service, sales, development, logistics, and production.
“There are various challenges in the world that are also reflected in young people’s lives. At ABB, however, a young person can have the experience of doing meaningful work for a more sustainable world in a very real way, which can help build confidence in the future,” says Henri Hilke, Country HR Manager at ABB Finland. “It is important for us to encourage future professionals so that there will continue to be skilled workers in Finland.”

“Applications are also reviewed during the application period, so it’s advisable to submit your application right away if your next step could be spending the summer with an international company, working alongside top-notch colleagues,” says Maria Pasanen, Country Manager for University Relations, Early Talents and Employer Branding. “We need summer interns in both production and office work, so there are positions available for students from various fields and educational institutions.”
Let’s learn from each other
Summer internships at ABB provide an opportunity to take on responsibilities, apply knowledge and skills acquired in studies, learn new things, and network in a large technology company, as well as to bring one’s own outlook to the fore. ABB employees are accustomed to working with summer employees from various fields of study, and appreciate the assistance and interesting perspectives they provide.
“We eagerly welcome summer employees to our team every year. We can develop our continuous improvement culture also with our summer workers so it’s worth taking a bold and curious approach to summer work. At ABB, summer interns are encouraged to openly share their thoughts,” Hilke says.
A career at ABB often begins with a summer job
Summer interns get involved in their actual tasks after thorough orientation and training in the early summer. Various informal activities are also organized, such as summer parties and other events for summer interns.
After their summer internship periods many summer employees continue to work part-time at ABB alongside their studies, and transit to permanent positions upon graduation. “Many want to continue their self-development with us after graduation because a large company like ours provides many opportunities,” Hilke notes.
