ANA has Installed ABB Fast Charger for Electric Vehicles at Tokyo Haneda Airport

  • ABB’s Terra CE 54 CJG fast charger, which charges electric Ground Support Equipment vehicles, has been installed at Haneda airport.
  • The fast charger is compatible with three domestic and international standards, as well as with vehicles that will be introduced in the future.
  • Initiative will contribute to ANA Group's climate strategies to reduce its carbon footprint from operations.

All Nippon Airways (ANA) today announced its acquisition of fast chargers for ground support equipment (GSE) from ABB to be used at Tokyo Haneda airport. ABB has provided the fast charger "Terra CE 54 CJG" at the charging facility for ANA Group's electric GSE vehicles. This is the first time ANA installed fast chargers for electric vehicles in the restricted area of an airport.

This fast charger is compatible with a total of three charging standards: Japanese charging standard (CHAdeMO), international standards (AC standard and DC CCS 2) and can be used for electric vehicles to be introduced in the future. The charger has been in use and proven in the charging of electric GSE vehicles at airports internationally.

The ANA Group’s climate transition strategies for achieving carbon neutrality is focused on four approaches, as well as adopting new technologies, that will be achieved through a variety of efforts in ground and flight operations.

In addition to ANA Group’s carbon neutral initiatives for the aircraft itself, such as introduction of Sustainable Aviation Fuel, ANA will also adopt new technologies that will be achieved through a variety of efforts in ground and flight operations.

“As part of ANA Group‘s sustainability goals, we are committed to decarbonization initiatives throughout our operations and with the support of ABB, we are proud to have installed fast chargers at Haneda Airport,“ said Rintaro Sohara, Vice President, Ground Handling Planning of ANA. “This project represents ANA’s steadfast efforts of our sustainability goals as we continue to pursue our climate transition strategy.“

“We are delighted to provide our charging solution to the ANA Group’s electric GSE vehicle charging facility,” said Masayasu Ishikawa, Commercial Leader of ABB Electrification in Japan. “With our e-mobility solutions, we will continue to support the ANA group in achieving their decarbonization targets and ultimately support the decarbonization efforts of airports,"
