ABB Czech Republic and Aspen Institute Central Europe support diversity

ABB, the global leader and pioneer in industrial digitalization, power products, robotics, drives and power grids, has partnered with Aspen Institute Central Europe to jointly promote topics that connect business and social issues. To mark the cooperation, Tanja Vainio, ABB Country Manager, has become a new member of the Board of Trustees of Aspen Institute Central Europe.

ABB Czech Republic and Aspen Institute CE have set out in the same direction in addressing social issues, such as the support of young and talented students, who can transform the relationship between business and society, including the issues of the development of technology, robotics and automation, and the impacts of technological progress on the public and society as a whole.

“While enjoying the current strong economic growth in the CEE region , it is important to think of the future, to think how the labour market and business environment will develop influenced by megatrends such as digitalisation, and to think about how global companies can positively influence the development of society,” said Tanja Vainio, Country Manager, ABB Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Tanja Vainio believes it is increasingly important to address the issues of gender balance. “The current social position of women is definitely on the right track, also here in the CEE region. We have seen examples from all over the world, how diversity, including gender diversity have positively influenced both innovation and financial results of companies of different sizes. . We want to transfer these positive examples more and more to the Czech Republic and other countries where ABB operates. Through cooperation with such a renowned institution as the Aspen Institute CE, we want to encourage women to get more involved not only in business but also society at large, added Tanja Vainio.

Connecting technology with industry and society

Aspen Institute’s mission is to provide a nonpartisan, expert forum for reaching solutions to vital economic, social and intellectual issues both in the Czech Republic and in the broader Central European, European and Euro-Atlantic contexts. For this reason, it cooperates with major global companies. Aspen Institute CE organizes events such as Aspen Young Leaders Program (AYLP) and a range of minor public and non-public events to present its agenda to Czech government officials as well as top business leaders.

Major issues for 2019 include the growth of technologies and their impact on society and business. “We are excited to welcome ABB among the partners of Aspen Institute Central Europe. We are looking forward to our cooperation in exploring the social impacts of technological changes, a field in which ABB has had extensive experience,” added Jiří Schneider, Director, Aspen Institute Central Europe.
