ABB Metals Europe, which provides full metals industry lifecycle management for significant international projects, has reached its 10th anniversary of operations. ABB leadership recognized the team’s achievements with a celebration at the facility in Zagreb, Croatia.
The 50 plus strong team at the regional execution center (REC) has grown from fewer than 20 people since it opened in 2014 and exists to support other metals industry-focused business units in Europe wherever their projects are in the world. The collaborative model integrates sales support, project management, engineering, and operational support services -procurement, logistics, controlling and administration. It is described as a fully functioning organization delivering across the entire value chain.
Originally setup as a collaboration model of ABB in Germany and Croatia, the team is today led by Vatroslav Jakobovic, Local Business Line Manager Metals, ABB Process Industries Croatia, and works with ABB project teams based in European countries. Highlight projects executed with ABB Metals Europe are far-reaching with cold rolling mills, processing lines, profile mills, primary metals and other metals applications deliveries in Europe, but also in other countries such as Algeria, Saudi Arabia, USA and South Africa, operating mainly in the demanding field of modernization of existing production lines - brownfield projects.
The strength of the existing team lies in its extensive, domain-specific expertise for metals, with many years in the industry, reliance on not only engineers but the full suite of functions and a competitive cost setup for customers.
“ABB Metals Europe truly stands as a shining beacon of productivity and efficiency with customers in mind, and I’m so pleased that we can celebrate its 10th anniversary together,” said Bernd Sachweh, Cluster Manager Europe, Business Line Metals, ABB Process Industries. “In many ways the model in place in our unit is advanced and unique in ABB. It has a track record of high-quality project outcomes and long may this continue. Customers tell us that there are high levels of satisfaction, and this only spurs our dedicated team on to perform even better in the future. We commend the leadership and the professional people staffing this facility.”
Serving customers in over twenty countries for more than 10 years, ABB Metals Europe business model brings together deep industry knowledge, world-class solutions and local expertise delivering a value to our customers by enabling collaboration between ABB’s front-end units and the REC for project-related business.
