ABB, a technology leader in electrification and automation, celebrated yesterday the World Environment Day by organizing educational and fun days for more than 100 children at its centers in Madrid and Sant Quirze del Vallès (Barcelona). This annual event aims to promote STEM vocations and sustainability education from an early age, in line with its sustainability strategy.

The day was held at ABB's facilities in both cities and was filled with activities specifically designed to teach the more than 100 children in third grade of primary school at CEIP Marqués de Suanzes (Madrid) and Escuela Miquel Martí i Pol (Sabadell, Barcelona) how to be sustainable in a fun and accessible way, as well as explaining climate change and small everyday actions to combat this phenomenon.

During the activities, the children experienced first-hand the consequences of photochemical smog, learning about thermal inversion and the accumulation of toxic gases in cities. They also participated in a debate on global environmental challenges through the visualization of images to reflect on these issues.

In addition, they explored energy efficiency in the home and learned about renewable energy by building different electrical circuit assemblies using the sun as an example of a renewable and sustainable energy source. They carried out practical activities on the importance of using biodegradable materials and waste management.

In the afternoon, ABB organized another activity for children of the company's employees at both facilities, which was attended by more than 70 people, including adults and children. The objective of this activity was to continue promoting environmental awareness and commitment to sustainability in a family and participatory environment.
