ABB UniGear ZS1 is a proven product with various class approvals, having sold over hundreds of thousands of units in demanding environments such as ships and offshore platforms. Through this agreement, ABB will supply UniGear ZS1 Marine version Power Parts to S&SYS, which will finalize the assembly with low voltage compartment to finish assembly at its Busan plant and supply it to customers. ABB's low voltage switchgear solutions, such as the MNS, can also be supplied together to meet project requirements.
S&SYS has already successfully delivered its own developed switchgear applied with ABB's medium voltage vacuum circuit breaker VD4 to LNG vessels etc., and plans to actively expand into the market by strategically adopting ABB switchgear for recently ordered offshore plants.
Established in 2017 as a spin-off from Samsung Heavy Industries, S&SYS has been a major supplier to Samsung Heavy Industries, providing various switchgears stably. In the recent positive shipbuilding market outlook, ABB and SYSYS expect to create synergy effects in the shipbuilding and marine industry through this agreement and provide more differentiated solutions to customers.
"This agreement is an important step for the growth of ABB's electrification business," said Seunghun Lee, Head of Electrification in ABB Korea. "We expect that through our collaboration with S&SYS, we will be able to strengthen our leadership in the marine and shipbuilding industry and provide even more valuable solutions to our customers."
"Through close cooperation with ABB, we will be able to further strengthen our technical capabilities and provide differentiated value to our customers," said Jae-Hyuk Bae, CEO of S&SYS. "We also expect that this agreement will contribute greatly to the pursuit of sustainable growth in the marine industry and the exploration of new market opportunities through the exchange of technology and synergy creation between the two companies."
