Acquisition bolsters sustainability advisory

ABB Electrification Service has further strengthened its sustainability advisory service following the successful closure of the SEAM Group acquisition on 1 August.

SEAM Group is a US-based provider of energized asset management and advisory services to clients across industrial and commercial building markets.

The company has a particular focus on integrated energy solutions to optimize consumption, increase efficiency and promote sustainable operations. Working primarily with utility, industrial and commercial customers to reduce energy costs, define ESG goals, and improve grid resilience, SEAM Group’s key services include training, field inspection, assessment, installation, and repair solutions.

The SEAM Group is particularly active in the burgeoning EV sector. Pedro Robredo, ELSE Senior Vice President for the Americas Hub, said: “SEAM Group excels in sustainability initiatives, notably through the design and installation of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in high-demand locations such as gas stations, shopping centers and other commercial buildings, like airports.

“This dovetails with our own sustainability targets and offers promising synergies, since ABB provides essential grid support for such installations, including Battery Energy Storage Solutions (BESS).”

A key component of SEAM’s customer offering is its Viewpoint platform, which offers real-time access to key operational information, ensuring prompt and informed decision-making. Its carbon reduction analytics feature offers access to environmental insights and allows users to discover connections between condition-monitoring activities, operations and sustainability initiatives.

Stuart Thompson, Division President, ABB Electrification Service, said: “SEAM Group’s expertise in low-voltage asset management and their digital capabilities in predictive and preventive maintenance complement and strengthen our service offering and expand our capacity to support customers as they optimize and decarbonize their operations.”
