ABB to join the 7th CIIE with global innovations that enables sustainable future

  • ABB booth will feature the collective exhibition of 60+ latest innovative products and solutions, new product launch and MoU signing with key partners
  • New CSR initiatives will be announced on CIIE in line with ABB’s commitment to local education and social progress
  • ABB signs up for the 2025 edition of CIIE and expects greater results at this national expo

From November 5 to 10, ABB will bring more than 60 innovative products and solutions on smart energy, smart manufacturing and smart city to the China International Import Expo (CIIE). Through the 300-square-meters booth (4.1B3-03), ABB will present a series of leading electrification and automation solutions including new energy integration, smart buildings, zero-carbon industrial park, energy efficiency management, high-efficiency motors, drives, robots, and process automation solutions. We will also launch P-500, ABB's first pressure transmitter featuring energy saving and high-performance, and the new architecture of process automation systems based on Ethernet-APL (Advanced Physical Layer) technology. With all these digital and smart solutions, ABB is better positioned to support China’s energy transition and industrial upgrade.

Dr. Chunyuan Gu, Chairman of ABB China, said: "ABB has been an active participant since the first CIIE was held in 2018. The CIIE provides a high-quality platform for Chinese and foreign enterprises to showcase their innovation achievements, strengthen cooperation. Over the past six years, ABB has showcased more than 260 innovative products and cutting-edge technologies, launched a few new products and signed nearly 100 strategic cooperation agreements at CIIE. It allows us to listen to the voice of the market, better understand the customer needs, and enhance the cooperation with local partners to explore new markets, share opportunities and promote sustainable development."

New product launch and debut at CIIE

ABB's first green high-performance pressure transmitter P-500 will be launched in the world at CIIE. As ABB's flagship pressure transmitter series, P-500 has achieved a significant leap in performance, and with ABB’s unique "Hydrogen Shield" technology it provides a stable and durable solution for industries, particularly the new energy industry such as hydrogen. Its excellent control accuracy can help users achieve energy saving, cost reduction and productivity. Through the integration of digital technologies and Ethernet-APL technology, it enables real-time diagnosis and digital maintenance management, greatly improving operational performance. Furthermore, the P serial pressure transmitters strictly follow the green and low-carbon standards throughout its production process, and has received the third-party verification of EPD.

A new architecture of process automation systems based on Ethernet-APL technology will be launched on CIIE. ABB integrates Ethernet-APL technology into its own automation control solutions, realizing the requirements of NAMUR Open Architecture, interconnecting industrial Ethernet and field devices, and directly integrating field devices into the device management software, thus enhancing the enterprise's digital operation and maintenance for key field devices in a more accurate and efficient way. In addition, the new architecture of the automation system brings a huge amount of data for process optimization, which helps to improve operational efficiency, reduce operating costs, and empower intelligent decision-making.

Innovative exhibits for industrial upgrading and energy transition

A robot controller acts as the brains behind the industrial robot and plays a key role in modern automation. ABB’s latest controller OmniCore™ will work with three IRB 1300robots at ABB booth to challenge the high-speed and accurate motion control among the fragile wine glasses. With its unprecedented pairing of accuracy and speed, the OmniCore platform brings robotics motion control to a new level. It enables the robots to achieve path accuracy down to 0.6mm in the fast movement. This platform enables its robots to operate up to 25% faster and to consume up to 20% less energy compared with previous controller.

The rise of small-batch customization in manufacturing has become a huge challenge to traditional production mode. Based on the principle of magnetic levitation, ACOPOS 6D provides an ideal option for small-batch production with frequent changeover between products of different designs and dimensions. In this transport system, the shuttles with integrated permanent magnets float over the surface of electromagnetic motor segments and the modular motor segments can be arranged freely in any shape. They can move freely in two-dimensional space, rotate and tilt along three axes and offer precise control over the height of levitation. Altogether, that gives them six degrees of motion control freedom.

ABB will also display a full range of ABB Electrification solutions for smart buildings, solar and energy storage integrated flexible DC distribution, zero-carbon industrial park, high-attitude renewable energy integration, energy efficiency and asset health management, supporting customers to unlock the potential of renewables and accelerate the energy transition. For instance –

  • ABB's UniGear series switchgear, renowned for its exceptional performance, ensures a continuous and reliable power supply for both industrial and utility applications. Its EPD certification underscores ABB's dedication to circularity and sustainable practices.
  • ABB SACE Infinitus, compliant with IEC 60947-2, represents the next generation of solid-state circuit breakers tailored for sustainable DC networks. It boasts a breaking response time that is 100 times faster and offers 100 times the endurance of conventional breakers.
  • The MDrail-E digital distribution panel provides real-time monitoring of load, condition, and temperature, as well as comprehensive data analysis on energy consumption. This digital technology supports the creation of a green, secure, and sustainable smart distribution network.

With increasing energy efficiency demands across the globe, ABB is accelerating the development of new energy-efficient motors, generators, drive products and services that enable higher energy efficiency and less emissions. Here are two examples among the state-of-the-art motion solutions:

  • ABB’s newly upgraded M2QA IE5, a general-purpose low-voltage motor that accords with energy efficiency grade one of China’s new standard GB for electric motors, provides a highly customized, cost efficient and durable solution for wide application in paper and pulp, lifting, metal, power, marine, textile, food and beverage, mining, cement and other industries.
  • ABB Cloud Drive, developed by ABB Motion China, is a comprehensive digital solution by combining cloud connectivity, condition monitoring, remote diagnosis, predictive maintenance, optimization advice and online archiving to provide a real digital experience for customers of various industries.

In the field of process industry, hybrid and marine industries, ABB provides a full range of automation and digital solutions that help industry customers improve quality, productivity and energy efficiency:

  • ABB smart manufacturing solution for metals industry, for example, combine basic process automation solution, an integrated control operation platform and a big data analytics platform to help steel makers optimize the operational efficiency, productivity, safety and reliability.
  • ABB Aizpod® propulsion system, where the electric drive motor is housed within a pod outside the ship hull, can rotate 360 degrees, increasing maneuverability and operating efficiency of vessel, while cutting fuel consumption significantly.

In addition to the product launch and a series of innovative technologies on display, ABB will leverage the CIIE as an influential platform to expand cooperation with customers, and sign strategic agreements on innovation and partnership to explore new opportunities in China market and achieve mutual benefits.
