Inaugural Energy Efficiency Expert Day in Malaysia Attracts Strong Participation

The Motion Services Team in Malaysia hosted its first Energy Efficiency Expert Day in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Wednesday, 27 November 2024. The exclusive event convened industry professionals, partners, and like-minded stakeholders to engage in discussions focused on advancing energy efficiency.

Themed “Innovating for a Sustainable Future,” the event fostered a collaborative atmosphere where participants exchanged ideas and explored innovative technologies designed to accelerate energy efficiency across industries.

Pearl Ong, Regional Service Manager for Motion Services at ABB, opened the program by underscoring the pivotal role of energy efficiency as a readily accessible opportunity for organizations to accelerate their energy transition. Christophe Begot, Global Sales Support Manager for Motion Digital Services at ABB, followed with a presentation on “Transforming Maintenance Services with ABB’s Digital Innovations,” outlining how digital solutions can enhance operational performance while helping companies meet their sustainability goals.

Dr. Ankush Gulati, Global Program Lead for Energy Efficiency at ABB, added further depth by giving participants insights into the path towards industrial energy efficiency. Later, Chong Yoke Sing, Global Customer Support for Asia at IEC LV Motors, ABB, contributed to the program by providing an overview of the ultra-premium efficiency IE5 SynRM motors.

The event concluded with remarks from Kanavati Siban, Local Division Manager for Motion Services in Malaysia, who emphasized the critical role of energy efficiency in the current business environment. “In today’s landscape, sustainability is no longer an aspiration; it is an imperative. The integration of energy efficiency and the reduction of our carbon footprint are essential for ensuring long-term viability and competitiveness,” he remarked.

He further noted, “In the past, energy efficiency has often been overlooked in discussions relating to energy and climate objectives, but this trend is changing. We are encouraged by the opportunities that lie ahead as we work collaboratively to elevate the importance of energy efficiency and support our customers in navigating an increasingly complex market”.
