We are looking for students for summer internships in areas including product development and technology, IT, project management, customer service, maintenance, logistics and production. ABB has business operations in 15 divisions in Finland, global responsibilities, significant production for exports, and over 5,000 employees in almost 20 locations, providing a wide range of choices for summer jobs as well.
“The world is changing rapidly. ABB offers an excellent vantage point to see how we can help industries run at high performance, while becoming more efficient, productive and sustainable so they outperform. Based on our new brand positioning we call this “outrun”, explains Peter Lindgren, Site Manager, Drives. “So apply to be part of the vision of a sustainable future!"
“Forward-looking experts in a wide range of roles are important to us, so do explore different options and apply for positions that interest you,” recommends Country HR Manager Henri Hilke.
“A summer job at ABB offers summer interns the opportunity to take on responsibility, to apply the knowledge and skills you’re learning in your studies, to express your views and to learn. Many also appreciate being able to network among both ABB Finland's employees and international colleagues.”

“We welcome summer interns to our team every year,” Hilke points out. “You’re a valuable addition to our working community.”
“ABB's solutions and expertise help make a wide range of industries more competitive,” emphasizes Peter Lindgren from the Drives unit which develops and manufactures drives for electric motors. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), up to 50% of the world’s current energy efficiency savings potential comes from the industrial sector.
This year, ABB was chosen as the second most attractive employer and the most ideal employer in its field in Finland by engineering students. Henri Hilke (left) and Pekka Tiitinen (second from right), Managing Director, ABB Oy, and Maria Pasanen (right) with her colleague Emilia Mäkitalo celebrate the company’s success in the Universum student rankings.
“Combining work and study has been easy, since I have had a chance to work flexibly. The workdays are interesting and enjoyable, and I have got to meet great new people at work and at ABB events,” recalls Nelly Plukka, who has continued as part-time employer in the System Drives procurement department after the summer. “You should apply to ABB!”
Come meet ABB employees and discuss summer jobs at various student events held early in the year in different parts of Finland.
Apply by February 16, 2025
The application period begins on Friday, January 3, 2025, and closes on Sunday, February 16.
“We start going through applications during the application period. If you’re excited about a summer job in an international company with excellent colleagues and want to show what you can do in an interesting role, apply now,” says Maria Pasanen, Employer Branding Country Manager. “We have summer vacancies in both production and office positions for students from a wide range of disciplines and educational institutions in several locations.”
Summer internships start with a thorough induction, which also provides a good grounding in ABB’s safety culture. “In addition to the induction and the work itself, there are a variety of more informal activities, such as a summer party and other events for summer interns. These are always very popular,” notes Maria.
From summer work to a career at ABB
A summer internship at ABB can lead to a part-time position alongside studies, and a permanent position after graduation.
“When looking for summer jobs, it’s worth thinking about whether ABB could be the company that offers you excellent opportunities for self-development in the future,” advises Hilke.
