The Canadian Institute of Mining’s annual convention and expo takes place May 4–7, 2025, at the Palais des congrès de Montréal, Canada. This year’s event, CIM Connect, will again dig into some of the most relevant topics and forward-looking solutions addressing today’s mining industry challenges.

The conference theme this year is “Minerals, Innovation, and the Energy Transition,”. Through three full days of immersive learning and knowledge exchange, it’s sure to feature ample discussion around critical minerals investments and the technologies driving the future of mining. We are encouraging our talented teammates to take the time to visit and learn.

While there is a lot to take in at this event, below are four ways you can make the most of your experience at this year’s show:

1. Monday CEO luncheon sponsored by ABB: Future forward – Profiling two mining industry innovators and technology early adopters

One key session taking place during the week is an exclusive CEO luncheon. Featuring a fireside chat with representatives from Dumont Nickel and Eldorado Gold Quebec, two companies leading the way in technology adoption, the discussion will focus on how automation, electrification, robotics and digitalization are being used to drive meaningful change. This event, sponsored by ABB will kick-off at 12:00 PM with a welcome and introduction from Sachin Jari, Business Line Manager for Mining in North America at ABB.

2. Tuesday panel session featuring Max Luedtke: Mining energy transition – Navigating innovation and the ecosystem

This panel will explore the evolving energy transition in Canadian mining, with a focus on the technologies, strategies, and partnerships that are enabling companies to meet their sustainability goals. Sponsored by SMS Equipment, the session will include insights from a range of industry voices, including ABB’s Max Luedtke, Vice President, Global Business Line Manager Mining.
