Importadora Hidráulica Dubón, located in Guatemala City, Guatemala, has been a Baldor-Reliance and ABB channel partner for more than 35 years. Founder and president, Mr. Luis Dubón, began his distributor business by selling single electric motors that he would purchase in Miami and transport back to Guatemala in his carry-on baggage. Today, Importadora Dubón sells more than 2,000 ABB motors every year, as both a channel partner and OEM, making the company the largest importer of ABB motors in Guatemala.
Founded more than 40 years ago, Importadora Dubón is a family business, serving the food and beverage, agroindustry and cement segments. The company has five locations throughout Guatemala, supplying motors for nixtamal-style corn mills, chippers, pumps and conveyors, as well as providing specialized technical service and consulting on industrial solutions. In addition, Dubón manufactures its own line of corn-griding mills, powered by ABB general purpose single-phase motors. Among the customers of these mills are Mayan farmers who travel hundreds of miles to purchase the machinery. In the early days of Mr. Dubón’s career, farmers and small corn growers would need to travel long distances to have their corn milled into flour. Today, there is at least one corn-flour mill every half kilometer. Importadora Hidráulica Dubón is literally helping to feed the entire country of Guatemala, supported – in part – by ABB's Baldor-Reliance motors.
In 2023, Importadora Dubón was honored with an ABB channel partner lifetime award by ABB's NEMA Motors Division president, Jesse Henson. The award trophy sits front and center among Mr. Dubón’s many other accolades, a testament to his pride and honor of being recognized by ABB.
