Following the devastating EF3 tornado that struck Selmer and surrounding areas on April 3, 2025, the ABB Foundation is donating $20,000 to the American Red Cross - Midwest TN Chapter to support disaster relief and recovery efforts in the local community.
While ABB’s Selmer manufacturing facility sustained no damage and all employees are safe, several team members and neighbors lost homes and belongings in the storm. In the days that followed, ABB employees mobilized quickly, cleaning debris, helping coworkers move and salvage belongings, preparing meals, collecting supplies, and gathering donations for the broader community in need.

Given the local laundromat was damaged by the tornado, ABB staff coordinated the delivery of a mobile laundromat truck to the Selmer facility’s parking lot. It was operational in just one day and has offered a much-needed, free location for community members to wash clothes in the wake of the storm.
“We are grateful for the safety of our team members and proud to be a part of the Selmer community,” said Michael Plaster, EVP and Business Leader, ABB Electrification. “By partnering with the local American Red Cross, we hope this donation helps extend further support, essential aid and comfort to our neighbors as they continue to rebuild.”
The American Red Cross continues to offer emergency aid, food, and financial assistance to those impacted.
The ABB Foundation in the United States exists to improve the communities where ABB employees live and work. The ABB Foundation gives to organizations that work creatively to affect lasting change in three areas: STEM education, hunger and disaster relief. We also encourage and multiply the effects of volunteerism and charity from ABB employees in our communities.
