The signing ceremony held at KEPCO KDN headquarters in Gwangju-Jeonnam Joint Innovation City was attended by key officials from both companies, including Anders Maltesen, President, ABB Energy Industries, Jae-Kyu Kim, General Manager, ABB Energy Industries in Korea , Sang-hyung Park, CEO of KEPCO KDN, and Hong-gu Yoon, Head of ICT Division of KEPCO KDN.

Through this agreement, ABB and KEPCO KDN will collaborate in three main areas:
- Optimizing ABB digitalization solutions for Korea's five major power generation companies
- Joint expansion into overseas markets
- Collaborative development of next-generation energy technologies.
The companies aim to explore adoption of next-generation communication technology like Ethernet-APL to enable real-time, secure data flow from field devices to control systems, facilitating autonomous operation and predictive maintenance of power equipment.

To address increased grid volatility from renewable energy expansion, both companies will focus on developing solutions with cybersecurity at their core. They plan to maximize efficiency while ensuring grid stability through digital twin technology and AI-based predictive analytics.
