For many years now, engineering students have ranked ABB among the top companies in Universum’s student ranking. This year, ABB also grew in popularity among IT students.
“We want to give both our personnel and student interns a chance to develop themselves and their expertise in successful and dynamic businesses. We strive to create a positive atmosphere and a healthy work community where continuous learning is possible. We are happy that students also seem to appreciate this and rate ABB highly in the rankings,” says Henri Hilke, Country HR Manager at ABB Finland, commenting on the results.

Engineering students have selected ABB as the second most popular employer in Finland.
ABB was also selected as the most ideal employer in its field once again.
ABB ranked 26th among IT students this year.
As a global technology leader in electrification and automation, ABB helps various industries operate with high performance, enhancing their efficiency, productivity and sustainability to make them more successful. In Finland, ABB operates in 20 regions and employs approximately 5,500 professionals.
The results emphasized respect for employees and opportunities for career growth
This year, 10,802 students took part in Universum’s employer image survey, of which 2,857 were technical students. Among other things, the results show, which employers the students have the most interest in and what characteristics they associate with such employers.
According to this year's results, students particularly valued respect for employees and well-being at work. The results also emphasized a competitive salary as well as learning and career growth opportunities.
As an employer, ABB offers a meaningful job, a variety of assignments and extensive development and career opportunities in an international and stable company. Continuous development and learning bring about possibilities to transfer to new tasks in-house through internal recruitment, also internationally.
A variety of assignments for summer interns
ABB is popular among those seeking an internship for the summer. Every year, ABB has about 800 summer internship positions for students in different fields, such as engineering, commerce and IT. There are summer internship positions for both production and office tasks.
Martta Järvinen, a third year student of energy technology, started her fourth summer at ABB. Järvinen is an intern in System Drives sales support, and she has also been working part-time alongside her studies. In sales support, she is the liaison between production and international sales units.
Järvinen became interested in the field of technology because she felt it could offer many ways to influence climate change and environmental issues. Järvinen became familiar with ABB through its collaboration with universities and students.
“ABB offers various summer internship positions for students, which is why I applied in the first place. To me, ABB is a company with promising future prospects for employees, as it is large and international. The work has given me a chance to network also internationally,” says Järvinen.
According to Järvinen, ABB takes interns well into account by offering them a chance to continue as part-time employees alongside studies after summer internships, for example.

ABB values summer interns and listens to their ideas and insights. At ABB, many current employees have started their careers as summer interns.
