For over 15 years, IRA has been training technicians and engineers on ABB process chromatographs. Thanks to this new facility, the institute will now be able to offer training on the latest generation of the PGC5000, the most widely used process chromatograph in France and worldwide. This initiative is part of a shared desire to strengthen user skills in the most advanced gas analysis technologies on the market.
A strategic partnership for user skills development
Delivery of the PGC5000 is scheduled for the end of June 2025, with the first training session expected in the fall. This partnership will enable the IRA to modernize its analyzer fleet and expand its catalog, with the "PGC5000 Expert" training, led by ABB Measurement & Analytics specialists. One to two training sessions will be organized each year at IRA's location, which will be able to accommodate 4 to 6 candidates per session.
These practical training courses will offer participants the unique opportunity to handle an analyzer in real conditions, a luxury rarely available on site, where this critical equipment operates 24/7 at the heart of chemical and petrochemical processes.
A response to the challenges of performance, safety and sustainability
The PGC5000 plays a central role in optimizing industrial processes, ensuring, among other things, facility safety, personnel safety, and finished product quality. Equipped with digital controllers, it allows information to be fed back to control systems (DCS), facilitating predictive maintenance and remote control.
It runs with the support of My Measurement Assistant + (MMA+), an advanced diagnostic platform powered by artificial intelligence, which revolutionizes equipment maintenance and operation. This innovation offers enhanced operational efficiency, real-time support, and access to videos, documentation, and spare parts. PGC5000 Expert training sessions are organized by the group to discover the full potential of this new feature.

A shared commitment to the future of industrial analysis
Michel Morales, Gas Analyzer Sales Lead at ABB France in the Measurement & Analytics division, explains the reasons for this partnership, which should bring significant benefits to both parts.
“We are very pleased to deliver a PGC5000 process chromatograph to the IRA, a long-standing partner recognized for the quality of its trainings. ABB is very proud to contribute to the skills development of the technicians and engineers who will shape the industry of tomorrow. Thanks to this collaboration, we offer users the unique opportunity to train on our most advanced technology, in a leading educational environment.”
By collaborating with IRA, ABB reaffirms its commitment to support its customers in upgrading the skills of their teams by training them on the latest and most efficient technologies on the market. This partnership also provides an opportunity for direct dialogue with users, to better understand their expectations and constraints and to support them in their daily challenges by providing them with tools to anticipate breakdowns, improve energy efficiency and reduce the environmental footprint of their installations.
