As part of the initiative, students were challenged to research ABB and explore how our technologies could be applied to make various environments more energy efficient and sustainable. The students then put the technologies into their chosen environment, from toothpaste factories and industrial buildings to hospitals, salons, hotels, and even custom-designed futuristic spaces, the students showcased a wide range of imaginative ideas.
With support from ABB mentors, students developed practical solutions to the challenges, while building key competencies aligned with the Skills Builder framework—including teamwork, communication, problem solving, creativity, and leadership. The experience gave students a valuable glimpse into the world of engineering and innovation, helping them connect classroom learning with real-world applications.
“It was fantastic to see the creativity and enthusiasm the students brought to the table,” said one ABB mentor. “They approached the challenge with fresh perspectives and a real sense of purpose.”
The final presentations were a highlight of the day, with each group confidently sharing their ideas and demonstrating a strong understanding of sustainability and ABB technology. The initiative not only gave students a taste of working in a professional setting but also reinforced the importance of sustainable thinking in shaping the future.
“By showing students what’s possible, we hope to ignite a lifelong interest in STEM and help build a more sustainable future,” said an ABB spokesperson.
This collaboration reflects ABB’s commitment to community outreach and youth development. By investing time and expertise in local schools, we aim to inspire the next generation of engineers, innovators, and sustainability champions.
A huge thank you to all ABB colleagues who contributed to this initiative—your support is helping to shape the future, one student at a time.
