PT ABB Sakti Industri and PT Prima Layanan Niaga Suku Cadang (PLN SC) have signed an extended strategic frame agreement to cover the provision of maintenance, technical services and lifecycle support. This includes automation upgrades, retrofits, electrical and automation spare parts, flame scanner and digital solutions for PLN SC’s power plants and other industries in Indonesia. The scope of the collaboration supports PLN SC’s projects nationwide, enhancing operational reliability and efficiency, as well as reinforcing both companies’ shared vision of modernizing Indonesia’s energy sector.

The extension of the strategic frame agreement was signed in the presence of several industry leaders in Jakarta during the Modernizing Indonesia’s Energy Sector for Sustainable Growth event in Jakarta, hosted by the Financial Times in partnership with ABB.

The conference brought together executives from Medco Energi, ASEAN Center of Energy, National Energy Council, Institute for Essential Services Reform and ABB to discuss how collaboration, innovation and investment can address energy security while enabling the transition to low-carbon energy sources. The opening keynote was delivered by Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia, which set the tone for a powerful dialogue on modernizing Indonesia’s energy sector for sustainable growth.

Indonesia is balancing rising electricity demand with the opportunities for growth and innovation associated with developing its energy infrastructure. The nation has committed to diversifying its energy mix, targeting the addition of 42.6 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy by the end of 2034[1], alongside plans for a Supergrid[2] to connect low-carbon energy sources with high-demand areas. Together, these initiatives aim to strengthen infrastructure resilience, accelerate the shift to cleaner power, and open new avenues for more sustainable growth and innovation.

“At PLN Suku Cadang, we recognize having immediate access to high-quality parts, technical support, and comprehensive lifecycle services is absolutely essential for power plant operators. These resources are the backbone of reliable operations, contributing to uptime and minimizing outages,” said Thommi Haposan, President Director of PT Prima Layanan Niaga Suku Cadang. “Our collaboration with ABB strengthens our ability to deliver reliable solutions across Indonesia’s energy sector. We are committed to help modernize the nation’s power infrastructure and support a stable, more sustainable future.”

“For many years, ABB has been a trusted, long-term partner to PLN SC, delivering the expertise and technology that contribute to the availability and reliability of Indonesia’s power plants. We understand the critical importance of responsive support, high-quality parts, and advanced lifecycle services in maximizing operational uptime,” said Anders Maltesen, President of ABB’s Energy Industries division, Asia. “Through our ongoing collaboration and by integrating automation and digitalization solutions, we are committed to supporting PLN SC to meet today’s needs while preparing for a resilient, efficient and more sustainable energy future.”

Through this collaboration, ABB and PLN SC aim to empower strategic asset planning and transform maintenance into a powerful driver of sustained performance and growth. Together they are committed to help shape the future of Indonesia’s energy landscape by embracing innovation and agile solutions.
