- Innovative medium voltage UPS technology is foundation for Kevlinx high-density, AI-ready data center
- Partnership produces infrastructure solution for AI workload growth
ABB and Kevlinx, a European data centers provider of sustainable and AI-ready data centers, are setting a new benchmark for critical infrastructure. The technology partnership between ABB and Kevlinx innovation teams has introduced a highly optimized medium voltage power architecture.
Kevlinx designs, builds and operates sustainable, AI-ready data centers with the flexibility to support next-generation workloads and high-density power demands. Working intensively with ABB on the design of a new 40MVA - scalable up to 100 MVA - Tier III campus in Brussels, one of Europe’s emerging digital hubs, Kevlinx features a power solution that maximizes reliability, availability, and energy efficiency.
ABB and Kevlinx worked together intensively from the start of the design phase through to implementation and monitoring of power distribution system.
ABB’s MV Innovation
Kevlinx Chief Operating Officer, Eric Lisica, emphasizes the strategic value of collaboration and technological advantage: “Together with ABB, we are building a new generation of energy-intelligent data centers. With AI workloads growing exponentially, enterprise and hyperscale customers require infrastructure that is reliable and ready to support future expansions. Our collaboration means our customers benefit from the most advanced energy infrastructure available. ABB's medium voltage UPS solution means optimal uptime, lower energy costs, and the flexibility to scale to their growing AI and cloud workloads, without compromises.”

ABB's new medium voltage data center architecture integrates the grid connection, switchgear and the UPS, running them all at medium voltage
Hyperscale and AI-ready data centers require large power capacities and absolute reliability. Partnering with ABB to introduce this innovative medium voltage architecture, transformer losses and heat dissipation are lower, improving energy efficiency.
ABB's new medium voltage data center architecture integrates the grid connection, switchgear and the UPS, running them all at medium voltage. Running more of the power system at higher voltages lowers losses and generates less heat. It saves energy, space - and it scales faster. Using ABB's medium voltage expertise, and its UniGear switchgear and HiPerGuard UPS systems, data centers are better equipped to deliver AI.
Grid Role
For Kevlinx, ABB is more than a supplier: it's a partner in sustainability, supporting them in meeting new regulatory standards, fulfilling ESG ambitions, and aligning with the evolving energy landscape. ABB’s solution can also transform the UPS from a passive emergency power supply into an active smart grid component. The HiPerGuard UPS can support grid balancing and help flatten peak loads, making the energy supply more stable.
Massimiliano Cifalitti, Smart Power President, ABB Electrification, said: “We are working with partners worldwide to design new, AI-ready power architectures that help data centers scale more quickly and operate more efficiently. ABB continues to invest in solutions, like HiPerGuard, that set new benchmarks in the market for flexibility and reliability. Together with Kevlinx, we are taking steps towards a digital economy that combines resilience and responsibility.”
