ABB launches next-generation power solution for AI-ready data centers

  • ABB’s MNS® low voltage switchgear now with SACE Emax 3 air circuit breaker
  • Space-saving solution integrates Emax 3’s advanced sensing and intelligence for more secure and reliable power supply with reduced risk of outages
  • Must-see technology highlight at Data Center World Asia on October 8-9 in Singapore

ABB is launching an advanced low voltage power distribution solution to support the deployment of AI-ready data centers. The advanced MNS switchgear, a leading choice for tech giants, integrates the new SACE Emax 3 air circuit breaker to make the low voltage power distribution more secure, reliable and adaptive.

Data center consultants and operators attending Data Center World Asia on October 8-9 will be the first to see the solution.

With global data center capacity forecast to grow from 80GW in 2024 to more than 220GW in 2030, resilient low voltage power is critical. Operators investing in AI infrastructure must manage rising power demands with increased financial exposure to outages, inconsistent grid power quality.

Nicole Koeppen, Head of Low Voltage Systems, ABB Electrification, said: “AI deployment depends on robust, future-ready electrification technology. Millions of MNS switchgear panels are installed around the world, making it the benchmark solution for operators looking to build their AI infrastructure on solid foundations. The new Emax 3 adds new capabilities that futureproof data centers for the complex power demands of the AI transition.”

ABB’s MNS switchgear with Emax 3 sets new benchmarks for data center electrical design and introduces new measures to help operators minimize the risk of power outages. Featuring the industry’s most accurate power sensors and data analytics, the Emax 3 collects and analyses real-time data from the electrical system, including power usage, system health, and environmental conditions such as temperature.

This information is used to give operators real-time insights, alerts, and guidance for targeted maintenance. Emax 3 is the world’s first circuit breaker to achieve IEC62443 SL2 cybersecurity certification, which helps reduce the risk of human error by limiting access to authorized personnel only. It also features an expanded power quality analyzer, which allows for more comprehensive monitoring and analysis of power quality ensuring that critical operations remain uninterrupted.
