ABB launches OT Plus switch-disconnector range

ABB launches OT Plus switch-disconnector range

  • Covers 16–160A with 3, 4, 6 and 8‑pole options, higher breaking capacity and overlapping ratings for smaller installations
  • Market-first adjustable fourth‑pole timing, plus quick‑spring terminals and a universal auxiliary contact for faster, more flexible installs
  • Up to 53% lower power losses

ABB has launched the new generation of OT Plus switch-disconnectors, that offers supreme protection and cutting-edge innovation for distribution and sub-distribution applications from 16A up to 160A, with 3, 4, 6, and 8-pole options.

Available for numerous applications such as power distribution boards, control panels, industrial freezers, robotics, automation and drives. The OT Plus line combines overlapping current ratings, market‑first adjustable fourth‑pole timing, enhanced breaking capacity, global certifications and strong sustainability credentials to meet the demands of modern industrial, commercial and critical infrastructure installations.

"Our innovation teams worked closely with customers to understand how a more advanced switch disconnector could make a difference to their operations,” says Lara Cortinovis, Distribution & Energy Management Leader, ABB Electrification. “The result is the OT Plus range; it combines higher performance and improved safety in a single, compact solution designed to meet the exacting demands of today’s industries."

Switch disconnectors are used to safely isolate electrical circuits for industrial operations and large commercial buildings. Lowering their power losses can have a direct impact on the site's carbon footprint. With OT plus customers can lower power loss by up to 53%. With a recyclability rate of up to 94% and embedded end-of-life instructions, it supports responsible disposal and more eco-friendly practices.

With lower power losses and higher recyclability, it also helps customers further their sustainability goals. For transparency, the OT Plus range is covered by independently verified Environmental Product Declarations. It is also part of ABB's EcoSolutions program, providing additional information on the complete product lifecycle.

See how OT Plus is designed to meet the needs of OEMs, panel builders, and distributors—delivering innovation, safety, and versatility for every application.

Industries require fault tolerance, precise protection of sensitive electronics, and predictable uptime. OT Plus prevents neutral interruptions with a true fourth-pole design and adjustable fourth-pole timing modes — simultaneous, early make and late break — protecting sensitive electronics, ensuring uptime and cutting operational energy losses in critical power distribution.

Key features:

  • Adjustable fourth‑pole timing as standard (simultaneous, early‑make, late‑break).
  • Overlapping current ratings across three frame sizes for optimized panel design.
  • Quick‑Spring terminals, sliding DIN cover and QR code access for faster installation and commissioning.
  • Universal auxiliary contact and accessory ecosystem including terminal shrouds and padlockable handles.
  • High durability and compatibility with MCBs/MCCBs for enhanced protection.
  • Extended performance supports applications up to 800VAC and improved breaking capacity for motor loads.
  • Global certification package includes IEC UL CCC and DNV plus thirdparty verified Environmental Product Declarations under ABB EcoSolutions.

OT plus offers a reduced total cost of ownership from lower in use losses, smaller panel footprints and simplified logistics. It has faster commissioning from quick connect terminals, clear etched installation data and QR access to drawings and certification and is retrofit friendly with the same width as previous OT units, compatible mounting holes, compatible shafts and handles and an optional retrofit mounting plate for G3.
