Driving Sustainability and Social Progress: ABB India Wins Multiple Honors

ABB India was recently recognized in different forums and across platforms for its leadership in advancing sustainability and social inclusion and for our commitment to building a more resilient and equitable future for all.

Enabling a low carbon society

The 17th GRIHA Summit convened thought leaders from the Government of India, industry, academia, and civil society to deliberate on the theme “Innovate to Act for a Climate Resilient World.” Supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and TERI – The Energy and Resources Institute, the summit served as a platform to accelerate action toward climate resilience and sustainable development.

At the summit, ABB India was recognized for its invaluable contribution to sustainability in the built environment, reinforcing the company’s long-standing dedication to advancing energy efficiency, decarbonization, and responsible business practices across sectors.

Speaking on the recognition, ABB India Country Sustainability Manager, Rajesh Kumar Jha said, “Being recognized at the GRIHA Summit reflects ABB India’s continued efforts to embed sustainability across everything we do, from enabling low-carbon industries to ensuring resource-efficient infrastructure. We believe innovation and collaboration are key to building a climate-resilient future.”

Rajesh also shared his insights during a panel discussion on the topic “Cascading Innovations – Climate-Smart Water Security”, on how innovative technologies and cross-sectoral collaborations can strengthen water management systems and support India’s journey toward water resilience.

Promoting Social Progress

At this year’s Bridgestone India Mobility Social Impact Awards (MSIA) 2025, held in Pune, one of our CSR partners, The Association of People with Disability (APD), Bengaluru, won the top honor in the “Empowerment of Vulnerable Communities” category for its "Rehab on Wheels" (RoW) initiative. The initiative serves as a model of how technology and mobility can empower marginalized communities.

Launched in 2022, Rehab on Wheels was designed with a simple yet powerful mission: to reach the unreachable. The mobile unit delivers comprehensive rehabilitation and assistive care services directly to underserved and remote communities in and around Bengaluru. It brings physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and psychological support right to people’s doorsteps, effectively removing the barriers of distance, cost, and accessibility that often prevent people with disabilities from receiving essential care. Since its inception, the program has impacted over 5,500 individuals, including persons with disabilities and the elderly.

Dual honors at ‘Making India Employable Conference & Awards’ (MIECA) 2025

ABB India was also honoured with the Bharat Nirman Award (Institutional) and the Corporate Excellence Award for Education and Employability, at MICEA 2025. The double victory underscores ABB’s leadership in driving large-scale, sustainable impact through education, employability, and nation-building initiatives.

Chosen from over 1,000 applications from leading institutions and corporations across India, ABB stood out for its ecosystem-driven approach, strategic collaborations with academia and government, and its measurable contributions to workforce empowerment. The Bharat Nirman Award (Institutional) recognized ABB’s role in advancing national development by fostering education and skill readiness aligned with India’s future economic needs, while the Corporate Excellence Award recognizes the company’s sustained efforts to bridge the gap between academia and industry through innovative skilling and employability programs.

“At ABB, we believe that education and employability are the cornerstones of nation-building, and our efforts are focused on creating long-term, sustainable impact through collaboration, innovation, and skill development. These awards are a testament to the collective passion and purpose of our teams, partners, and communities who drive our vision of a smarter, more equitable India,” said Dhenuka Srinivasan, AVP of Environment and Sustainability Affairs, ABB India.

Sustainability In Practice

Together, these recognitions reinforce ABB India’s holistic sustainability framework, anchored in three pillars: preserving resources, enabling a low-carbon society, and promoting social progress. These will continue to guide our daily operations as well as our long-term programs and partnerships.

The awards serve as important reminder that real change happens when purpose and committed teams come together. ABB India stands firmly positioned to keep shaping pathways of opportunity, empowering communities, and contributing to the country’s socio-economic growth for generations to come.
