• ABB and E.ON are collaborating to accelerate energy efficiency across industrial and commercial sectors, with ABB’s deep technical knowledge in motor-driven systems combined with E.ON’s financing and operational strengths.
• Together, the two companies will deliver a unique offering: while many players provide either financing or solutions, the ABB and E.ON collaboration delivers both. This helps customers benefit from a single point of accountability and a simplified fast-track path to reap environmental and economic benefits, without the need for upfront investment.
• The collaboration aligns with the insights from the recently published IEA’s World Energy Outlook 2025, that identifies energy efficiency as a key driver for economic competitiveness, affordability, and reducing overall energy demand.
ABB and E.ON Energy Infrastructure Solutions (E.ON), a leading provider of integrated, sustainable energy solutions for cities and industries, have joined forces to accelerate energy efficiency across industrial and commercial sectors. By delivering outcome-based energy solutions, this strategic collaboration is transforming how companies manage and optimize their systems, making it easier for them to achieve tangible savings on their energy bills and carbon emissions. This is made possible through a single point of accountability and without the challenge of upfront costs.
ABB brings its expertise in assessing and optimizing fleets of electric motor-driven systems, including pumps, fans, compressors, and other industrial equipment, helping customers identify and unlock energy savings potential across their operations. This is complemented by E.ON’s edge in financing and operating complex energy systems. Together, the companies will deliver a unique offering — from energy appraisals and system design to financing, implementation, and long-term operation.
The announcement of the collaboration follows the recent publication by the International Energy Agency (IEA) of its flagship World Energy Outlook 2025. This highlights energy efficiency as a key driver for economic competitiveness, affordability, and reducing overall energy demand. It also reports that energy efficiency, combined with electrification and sustainable fuels, will enable a nearly 55 percent reduction in global energy-related CO2 emissions by 2035 (from 38 gigaton -Gt in 2024 to around 18 Gt).
“The latest World Energy Outlook highlights that as risks multiply in a world thirsty for energy, diversification and cooperation are more urgent than ever. That’s why we are really excited about our collaboration with E.ON. This joint approach enables customers to focus on their core business while we take care of their energy infrastructure,” said Erich Labuda, Division President, ABB Motion Services. “Together, we can help industrial players be less dependent on volatile energy markets, accelerate cost and emissions reductions, and build resilience, while staying competitive.”
“This collaboration addresses a critical barrier identified by the IEA: the financing gap that hinders the widespread implementation of energy efficiency measures,” added Christoph Hiesgen, Head of Business Development, E.ON Energy Infrastructure Solutions. “By offering an end-to-end solution, ABB and E.ON can remove upfront investment hurdles and make energy efficiency accessible, measurable, and profitable.”
The ABB and E.ON partnership will focus on key industrial sectors in Europe, where the need for decarbonization and energy resilience is urgent - including food & beverage, chemicals, metal and glass production, pulp & paper and data centers. Customers can expect outcome-based models, guaranteed savings, and long-term support — all aligned with their operational, financial and decarbonization goals.
“This partnership is all about turning energy efficiency into a strategic lever,” concluded Erich Labuda. “It’s another way we help industries outrun – leaner and cleaner.”
