ABB Installation Products developed new Elastimold® IEC separable connectors to deliver enhanced durability, faster installation and trusted performance in challenging environments.
ABB's new 250 A connectors (up to 24 kV) and 630 A connectors (up to 36 kV) build on more than 60 years of innovative design and manufacturing experience. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor installations, these connectors streamline cable connections to switchgear, transformers, motors and other equipment while helping reduce operational downtime and maintenance costs.
Reliable connections for critical infrastructure
Engineered with ABB’s proprietary Elastimold EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) formulation, the connectors are fully shielded and fully submersible. This advanced material science helps deliver long-term durability and consistently reliable connections, even in challenging environments. The connectors accommodate a wide cable range with a minimum number of sizes, simplifying inventory management and reducing installation complexity. Type tested according to IEC 60502-4 and CENELEC HD 629.1 S3, ABB’s Elastimold connectors meet rigorous international standards for safety and performance.
Enhanced efficiency across applications
The Elastimold 250 A connectors from ABB connect medium voltage cables to equipment using bushings type A (according to EN 50180/EN 50181). Available in elbow and straight configurations for applications up to 24 kV and 250 A, helping ensure secure connections in both indoor and outdoor installations.
For higher capacity applications, ABB's Elastimold 630 A connectors handle medium voltage applications up to 36 kV and 630 A using EN 50180 & EN 50181 Interface C1. Available in symmetrical, asymmetrical and coupling configurations, they feature torque limiting epoxy plug and contact stud for precise terminations.
