What happens when ABB engineering and Formula-E power converge in Miami? The world’s fastest building.
On January 29, to kick-off the 2026 Formula E Miami E-Prix race weekend and celebrate the vibrant city of Miami, Formula E title partner ABB lit-up the iconic Miami Tower with the help of the ABB Formula E electric racecar and Usain Bolt in the driver’s seat. The one-of-a-kind light show in the heart of the city’s skyline showcased the power of electrification and automation off the racetrack. ABB’s electrification and automation technologies help industries outrun, for a leaner and cleaner tomorrow. Engineered for mission-critical industries – buildings, manufacturing, transportation, utilities and more – and fast-growing industries like data centers, ABB products help improve productivity, efficiency and reliability.
“Our electrification and automation technology has an impact some outside of our industry may never see, like helping save energy and costs while enabling a more resource-efficient future,” said Deni Miller, U.S. Electrification Business Lead, ABB. “We wanted to show this impact in a way that’s as exciting as the technologies themselves; so, we turned to our long-time partner Formula E – the pinnacle of speed, efficiency and innovation.”

The latest Formula E racecar is the world’s fastest accelerating single-seater car, with more than 350kW of power – enough energy to electrify a 47-story building like the Miami Tower plus nine more 47-story buildings. With the car front-and-center and Usain Bolt in the driver’s seat, ABB did just that, putting-on a light show on the Miami Tower telling the ABB story and what happens when innovation and ingenuity meet high-performance racing.
ABB supports some of Miami’s most essential and demanding facilities, like hospitals and schools, as well as iconic buildings, like the Miami Tower, Hard Rock Stadium and Miami International Autodrome where the E-Prix will take place. With a presence in every U.S. state and more than 100 countries worldwide, ABB engineers products for mission-critical industries – buildings, manufacturing, transportation, utilities and more – to improve productivity, efficiency and reliability, helping save energy and costs while enabling a more resource-efficient future. ABB technologies help industries outrun, for a leaner and cleaner tomorrow.
This is just the beginning of ABB’s ninth season with Formula E, where it plans to engage fans like never before at races around the world. Stay tuned for more electric moments, to come in cities like Berlin, Shanghai and Tokyo!
