The sound of school bells, children’s laughter, and the familiar bustle of the school canteen set the scene for a heart‑warming day as ABB colleagues came together to hand over Back‑to‑School packs to students from families in need.
For many of these families, the start of a new school year can be challenging. Costs for uniforms, shoes, and school supplies add up quickly, stretching already tight household budgets. ABB’s Back‑to‑School contribution helps ease this burden, offering relief to parents and giving children a confident start to the academic year.
Launched in 2009, this annual program supports around 90 students each year from three schools: Sekolah Kebangsaan USJ 2, Sekolah Kebangsaan Seafield 3, and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan USJ 8. Each student receives a complete Back‑to‑School pack comprising a school uniform, shoes, a school bag, and basic stationery.
This year’s handover took place during a simple yet meaningful gathering at Sekolah Kebangsaan USJ 2 on Thursday, 29 January. Ho Siew Kim, Country Holding Officer, together with Clemens Stahl, Vice President, Smart Power and Smart Building, ABB Malaysia Sdn Bhd., met with teachers involved in the program before personally handing over the packs to some of the students.
Mr. Kamarulzaman bin Johari, Principal of Sekolah Kebangsaan USJ 2, expressed his appreciation for the long‑running initiative. “The Back‑to‑School program has been a long‑standing tradition that has supported families in need over the years,” he said.
“This contribution lifts the spirits of the children. For a child who has been wearing the same uniform every day, receiving a brand-new set at the start of the academic year makes a big difference. It builds their confidence and gives them hope for a brighter future,” he continued
“This program reflects ABB’s long‑standing commitment to supporting the communities in which we operate. Seeing the students’ smiles today reminds us why this matters. A small gesture can ease a family’s burden and give a child the confidence to start the school year strong. We are proud to stand with our partner schools and continue this meaningful tradition,” Ho Siew Kim concluded.
