ABB returns to Light + Building fair 2026 in Frankfurt, Germany, with an immersive ‘Inside the Innovation’ experience, showcasing how intelligent technologies, people, and partnerships come together inside the buildings where we live and work.
At the heart of Inside the Innovation is a simple idea: innovation only matters when it works in the real world. Visitors will experience a life-scale building concept and walk-through demonstration inspired by real building environments – from homes and offices to hotels, retail spaces, and critical infrastructure – including both new-build and renovation scenarios. Inside the Innovation offers a closer look at how ABB helps make buildings more energy efficient, resilient, safe, adaptable, and comfortable, translating complex technologies into practical, real-world solutions.
Energy efficiency and sustainability are key themes throughout the experience, which showcases a broad range of solutions designed to support the rapidly evolving needs of buildings today. These include intelligent, multi-site energy management solutions, building automation and digital platforms, intelligent emergency lighting and connected home and access solutions.

Across residential and commercial environments, ABB’s intelligent energy management and electrification solutions help optimize energy use, integrate renewable sources, and support electric vehicle charging – whether in a single building or across multi-site portfolios. These capabilities are complemented by advanced building automation and management, and digital platforms that simplify operations, enhance comfort, and enable data-driven decisions to meet rising sustainability and regulatory demands.
In both new-build and renovation projects, ABB’s connected living, wireless, and access solutions help modernize existing buildings while reducing installation complexity in the face of growing skills shortages.
Together, these technologies enable customers to reduce environmental impact, boost operational performance, and create adaptable spaces that can evolve with rapidly changing demands.
Aldo Sciacca, Head of Portfolio Management and R&D, ABB Smart Buildings Division, said: “Inside the Innovation is about showing how intelligent building technologies come together as a complete system. Buildings account for almost 30% of global energy consumption1 and expectations are rising – for greater efficiency, deeper electrification, digital integration and improved user experience. The challenge is not simply adding new technologies, but ensuring they work seamlessly together. Our focus is on turning that complexity into something practical that works in the real world. By combining advanced engineering, open platforms, and close collaboration with our partners, we enable buildings that are more efficient, more adaptable, and ready for the demands ahead.”
Inside the Innovation also reflects ABB’s commitment to open ecosystems and collaboration, recognizing that no single organization can solve the growing complexity of modern buildings alone.
Inside the Innovation at Light + Building 2026 is designed to inspire planners, integrators, installers, architects, engineers, and building owners alike. By bringing innovation into real-life contexts, ABB aims to make the future of smart buildings tangible, relevant, and accessible.
Visitors can enjoy the experience from 8-13 March on Booth B51, E51 in Hall 12 at Light + Building 2026, Frankfurt.
