ABB and NAZO advance partnership to strengthen local capabilities for SafePlus

ABB in Mexico and Nazo Representaciones y Servicio (NAZO) have taken an important step forward in their collaboration to support the local market with ABB’s SafePlus Ring Main Units (RMUs) – compact, modular medium-voltage switchgear for secondary distribution networks.

NAZO recently completed a five-day on-site workshop training at one of ABB’s factories in China, covering key technical and quality topics required for RMU panel manufacturing and assembly. With the successful completion of this training, prototype manufacturing is scheduled for the first half of 2026.

This milestone reflects ABB’s continued focus on strengthening partner capabilities and supporting customers with reliable solutions, localized expertise, and responsive technical support.

Daniel Vargas, General Manager, NAZO, said: “It is an honor for us to join ABB’s Panel Builder Program for SafePlus RMUs. With ABB’s technical support and our local market expertise, we will be able to offer reliable solutions to the Mexican market with shorter lead times, while maintaining the high-quality standards that distinguish SafePlus. This strategic partnership strengthens our competitiveness and reinforces the trust of our customers. ”

Daniel Solano, Sales and Solutions Leader for ABB Distribution Solutions in Mexico, said: “Developing and enabling capable local partners is key to ensuring our customers have access to reliable  medium-voltage distribution solutions. This training and the upcoming prototypes represent a major step in building long-term capability and readiness for the Mexican market.”

As the first FastFlex program partner in Mexico and Latin America, NAZO’s completion of the training represents a milestone achievement, and additional trainings are planned for 2026.

Solutions in focus: ABB SafePlus Ring Main Units

ABB’s SafePlus is a modular RMU platform designed for secondary distribution applications at 12–24–36 kV, supporting a broad range of configurations. Its compact footprint, modular design, and low maintenance needs help optimize installation space and total cost of ownership, while providing reliable protection, switching, and isolation for critical power distribution.
