Motion, ABB in Indonesia, has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable development by partnering with Happy Hearts Indonesia (HHI) through the “Water for All” program. This initiative provides safe and sustainable access to clean water for schools in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), a region facing extreme drought challenges.
According to Bappenas, water scarcity in Indonesia is projected to increase from 6% in 2020 to 9.6% by 2030. NTT is recorded as the driest province, with six districts experiencing drought emergencies in 2023. As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitment, ABB supports the “Water for All” program as a tangible contribution from the private sector in addressing clean water access challenges in Indonesia. This support reflects ABB’s sustainability values and collaborative spirit to create lasting positive impact for communities. “Access to clean water is not just about infrastructure, it’s about quality of life, health, and the future of our children,” said Chen-Kang Tan, Vice President & Head of Motion, ABB in Indonesia.
The program also aligns with HHI’s mission to build proper learning spaces and improve literacy in remote areas. Sylvia Beiwinkler, CEO of HHI, added, “Clean water is the foundation of a healthy life and quality education. Our partnership with ABB enables us to reach more children in NTT.” In addition to supporting clean water provision, Happy Hearts Indonesia actively builds proper learning spaces, including library facilities, to enhance student literacy in remote regions. The collaboration with ABB plays a vital role in strengthening the sustainable development ecosystem, connecting education, health, and community well-being.
This partnership reflects ABB’s commitment to creating real impact for communities. Access to clean water in schools across NTT helps children learn and grow in a healthier and more dignified way,” said Katherina Rumambi, Country Communications Lead, ABB in Indonesia.
Through this initiative, ABB underscores the critical role of the private sector in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Indonesia, particularly Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, and Goal 4: Quality Education.
ABB hopes this program will inspire more stakeholders to actively contribute to providing clean water access for all.
