- ABB unveils the next generation of its flagship air circuit breaker, SACE Emax 3, at ABB Power Innovation Day 2026
- The new breaker delivers next‑generation protection by using real‑time sensing and smart analytics to detect issues early and keep mission-critical operations running safely.
- The SACE Emax 3 sets a new benchmark for safety and cybersecurity as the world’s first air circuit breaker with integrated arc‑flash detection and certified cybersecurity.
ABB has unveiled the next generation of its flagship air circuit breaker, the SACE Emax 3, for the first time in Vietnam at Power Innovation Day 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City. Designed for large facilities with high power demands, including data centers, advanced manufacturing sites and mission‑critical infrastructure, the Emax 3 addresses growing challenges related to cybersecurity, grid stability and the rapidly increasing power requirements driven by artificial intelligence (AI).
Building on the success of the industry-leading Emax 2, the new Emax 3 introduces advanced technologies to help prevent power outages and ensure system resilience. With highly accurate power sensors and embedded data analytics, the device monitors real-time electrical parameters, equipment health and environmental conditions such as temperature. This information is accessible remotely or via the Emax 3 touchscreen, giving users actionable insights, early warnings and data-driven maintenance recommendations.
Notably, the SACE Emax 3 is the world’s first air circuit breaker to achieve IEC 62443 Security Level 2 cybersecurity certification and delivers Class 0.5 active power and energy measurement accuracy. It is also the first ACB with a fully integrated arc-flash detection system to further enhance safety and reliability. This capability enables Vietnam’s buildings, hospitals, airports, factories, utilities and rapidly expanding data center sector to better protect their operations from cyberattacks and system disturbances.
