ABB launches TruCONTROL2.0 automatic transfer switching controller

ABB has released TruCONTROL2.0, a standalone controller for automatic transfer switching (ATS) that manages circuit breakers and motorized changeover switches in critical power systems.  

The controller supports the need for continuous power in hospitals, data centers, industrial facilities, and telecommunications infrastructure where uptime is essential for operations and safety.

An Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) automatically switches power between two sources when the primary fails. The TruCONTROL2.0 controller intelligently monitors voltages, makes instant transfer decisions, and ensures power continuity to critical loads.

The TruCONTROL2.0 maintains continuous power during utility outages across Main-Main, Main-Gen, and Main-Tie-Main configurations in 200V-480V three phase systems. 

TruCONTROL2.0 also auto-detects voltage, frequency, and phase rotation parameters, reducing configuration complexity and enabling faster commissioning. It connects to the Ekip Connect 3.0 platform for easy configuration, programming and monitoring, allowing teams to track power system performance.  

TruCONTROL2.0 delivers the flexibility customers need to keep operations running reliably. The controller offers: 

  • Three interface options—DIP switch for basic applications and LCD for standard monitoring with changeover switches, and Touch HMI for advanced applications with circuit-breakers —enabling teams to select the right level of control for their environment 
  • Six communication protocol options—Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, Profibus-DP, ProfiNET, DeviceNET, and Ethernet IP—to integrate with existing systems and management platforms without disruption
  • DIN-rail mounting with side or back configuration options for flexible installation in any panel layout
  • Self-seeking power supply that eliminates the need for external auxiliaries, reducing costs and complexity
