ABB and Yüce Auto-Škoda signed an important cooperation on mobile fast charging solution

Yüce Auto-Škoda, one of the leading companies in the electric vehicle retail sector in Türkiye, is collaborating with ABB to serve electric vehicle owners stranded on the road. Mobile DC fast charging solutions are produced in partnership with ABB.

Yüce Auto-Škoda saves time by taking the service at charging stations to user’s location, and to remove the range concerns of electric vehicles from being a factor that prevents consumers' purchasing decisions. The inverters used in this project are realized with durable ABB products. Their compact size and resistance to shocks and vibrations make them ideal for this service.

Within the scope of Yüce Auto-Škoda's mobile charging solutions, van-bodied commercial vehicles are transformed into fast charging stations for electric vehicles of all brands and models. This project was developed to eliminate range concerns and service interruption, which has become the most important expectation for potential electric vehicle buyers and existing electric vehicle users. When the user runs out of battery or cannot access the charging station, they can get service by calling the mobile charging station to their location with the help of an application.

Mobile fast-charging solution

The main components of the fast-charging solutions consist of a charging unit, an electric vehicle battery, liquid cooling system, control unit and auxiliary equipment. In addition, since vehicles often need to operate on difficult roads and rough terrains, on-board equipment makes service uninterrupted with its impact-resistant features. The mobile charging vehicles are compressed into a compact structure that is resistant to high temperatures and can be easily integrated and configured with control systems in order to operate the drive system reliably.

To meet these requirements, Yüce Auto-Škoda uses ABB's HES880 Mobile Inverter. The solution provided by ABB encompasses not only the inverter but also the low-voltage ancillary equipment that supports the smooth operation of the system.

Zafer Başar, Yüce Auto-Škoda General Manager said: "We are taking our strong cooperation with ABB, which we started in the field of fixed charging stations, even further with our mobile charging services. As Yüce Auto-Škoda, from the moment we introduced our electric vehicles to the Turkish market, we set out the aim of creating an eco-system and uninterrupted electric vehicle experience rather than a product. Our mobile charging stations, which will serve all brands and models of electric vehicle owners within this ecosystem, are undoubtedly one of the most remarkable projects. In addition, our dealer network, which has the fastest charging station infrastructure in Türkiye, stands out as a part of this system. We are happy to realize such a large-scale investment in the electric transformation of the automotive industry with a global organization like ABB."

Durable inverters for demanding applications

Saim Baran, ABB Global Rail System Retrofit Manager and Türkiye Traction Division Manager said: We are very pleased that the cooperation that started with Yüce Auto-Škoda Türkiye, which is the dealer network with the fastest charging infrastructure in the country with 360 kW DC technology, continues to increase with mobile DC fast charging solutions. Thanks to ABB technology, these solutions, characterized by their compact and durable structure, are designed to offer reliable performance in high temperatures, vibration and harsh field conditions. Due to these features, it is an ideal solution for fast mobile vehicle charging systems. This collaboration, which brings together ABB's global engineering strength and the application expertise of its business partners, contributes to the development of innovative and reliable solutions in the field of e-Mobility.

HES880 Mobile Inverters used in Yüce Auto-Škoda solutions offer a flexible working structure as DC/DC converters, providing both slow and fast charging in electric vehicle charging processes. Thanks to ABB's advanced on-board software infrastructure, the system can provide energy support to electric vehicles remaining in the field in a short time with its fast discharge feature when needed.

This structure, which contributes to the optimization of energy costs, offers slow charging during low tariff hours and fast charging from 20% to 80% in approximately 20 minutes in case of emergency. The most basic criterion of the functional safety principle is to minimize possible errors before isolating the error in place. Prioritizing user safety with their maintenance-free closed system design and HVIL (high voltage lockout loop) safety feature, HES880 Mobile Inverters create a flexible and reliable solution in electric vehicle infrastructure with operating modes and current options suitable for different power needs.

These technologies support zero-net mobility while also contributing to a circular economy approach by repurposing end-of-life batteries.

The collaboration between ABB and Yüce Auto-Škoda is not just a technology partnership but a reflection of a shared vision to make electrical mobility more flexible, fast, and accessible in the field. This development extends from fixed infrastructure to mobile solutions, bringing together the strengths of the two companies to provide more seamless, practical and highly efficient experience for electric vehicle users.
