First non-American to join the GM Board
The Board of General Motors announced yesterday that Percy Barnevik has been elected member of the GM Board. General Motors, based in Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A., is the world's biggest corporation with sales in 1995 of US$ 169 billion and 745,000 employees worldwide.
Mr. Barnevik, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ABB, the international electrical engineering company, is also a member of the boards of Investor AB, the Swedish investment company, and E.I. Du Pont de Nemours & Cie, the American chemical and oil company. He is also non-executive chairman of the boards of Skanska AB, the Swedish construction company and Sandvik AB, the specialty steel and tool group. (End)
