ABB’s surface-mount architectural emergency lighting units, available across the LSAU/LSAUR, RSAU/RSAUR and ESAU/ESAUR Series, have achieved Gold Certification in the Indoor Lighting Fixture category within the Product discipline of the 19th GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN Awards. Established in Montreal in 2007, the awards are among Canada’s most respected design accolades. The competition celebrates excellence in architecture, product design, lighting, interior design, construction, and related disciplines. Entries are evaluated by an international jury based on design quality, functionality, and innovation.

ABB's surface-mount architectural emergency lighting is easy to install and fits naturally within a building's architecture
The products are designed for commercial and institutional settings, including retail and hospitality spaces, schools and hospitals where emergency lighting must meet a range of performance, installation and architectural design requirements. Each product features four high-intensity LEDs, arranged in a carefully engineered configuration to provide uniform illumination over distances of up to 25 meters (80 ft). The predefined optical design eliminates the need for manual aiming, reducing the risk of misalignment while providing consistent and dependable coverage in critical situations.
The units can be mounted directly onto a standard ceiling junction box, helping to reduce installation time and complexity, while compatibility with recessed, surface-mounted or suspended configurations enables flexible integration across different interior layouts. Optimized light distribution can also reduce the number of fixtures required, lowering equipment and installation costs without compromising safety or coverage.

Available in black or white thermoplastic finishes, the compact, low-profile units blend discreetly into contemporary interiors.
The self-contained LSAU, RSAU and ESAU Series incorporate a protected lithium battery, providing a minimum 90-minute emergency runtime, while the corresponding LSAUR, RSAUR and ESAUR Series are remote fixtures compatible with central emergency power systems.

Designed and manufactured at ABB’s Emergency Lighting facility in Montreal, Canada, the products reflect ABB’s commitment to high-quality engineering and locally driven innovation. The Gold Certification makes ABB’s emergency lighting solution a finalist for the Grand Winner title, which will be announced at the GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN gala in Montreal on October 8.
